The Night of the Dead

On Halloween, hordes of undead invade all four cities of the land of Goldmoon!!!

By Albertus Strong - October 31, 2001

Annual terror

Once Night was firmly set, multiple cries were heard all across the land from terrified townsfolk and shopkeepers as the first wave of the undead hit one town after the other.

The Night of the Dead had been a yearly plague to the people of Althea since times immemorial. At such time, brave adventurers from all islands are needed to protect their cities from the upcoming onslaught of undead creatures. By royal edict, all townsfolk of Goldmoon are also warned to stay indoor and wait out this night of terrors. This year was not to be an exception…

The dead are coming!

Taking heed to the royal proclamation, townsfolk were already cowering in relative safety in their homes and the mightiest and bravest of the land were preparing to face the coming night. As the sun was slowly setting, swords and axes were nervously drawn at the city gates of Lighthaven, Windhowl, Silversky and Stonecrest.

Soon, streets all across the three islands were filled with the moans of rotting animated corpse as they were hacked to pieces by the valiant town defenders. This nightmare army also took their toll in fresh meat as unfortunate defenders fell under their foul attacks.

Dawn at last

The battle raged on and on all night as waves upon waves of undead rose from their resting place and fell back again in pieces. As the sun came and blessed the land with the holy light of Artherk, the last undead were struck down at last. The Night of the Dead was over!

Jailhouse rock :: A happy ending

Since a great many people answered this call for fun, the once gloomy prison quickly filled with the sounds of laughing, dancing, drinking and magic fireworks. Once again the cheerful spirit of the people of Ascent proved its resilience in the wake of hardship.
